Made-to-order window dressings

Bespoke & stylish Roman blinds and curtains hand sewn in Reigate.

We offer bespoke soft furnishings in the Surrey area and further afield.

If you live in the Surrey area the first step would be to provide your own measurements so that I can give you an initial estimate for the type of window treatment which you are after.  If you want to go ahead I would then do a home visit to confirm measurements if necessary.  If you are having new hardware installed for poles or if you are in the middle of a larger renovation/ redecoration we would usually wait until the poles or tracks are installed before starting work on any curtains.

If you are after roman blinds and live further afield, this is a service which we can offer remotely.  I can show you how to take the accurate measurements necessary and the blinds and tracks can be safely couriered to you ready for installation.

I love how fabric patterns and colour can transform and soften any room, it's often the finishing touches that are the most important!

I moved to Reigate in 2021 from South East London, and have been working on Alice Whitaker Interiors in my workroom at home, around my two little girls.  Having worked for a luxury homewares startup and then for a small construction company in Kensington for a few years, I have always enjoyed working in interiors, and for small, startup businesses.  Even when I first started a corporate career in the City straight out of university, I always loved sewing and did a number of sewing and pattern making courses at Kensington and Chelsea College in the evenings.  Finally, five years ago I decided to do the Diploma in Professional Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings at the National Design Academy so that I could start my own business, which I hope to grow over the coming years.

Direct Clients

I offer a flexible way of working. I am happy to help source fabric, lead you through the sampling process or simply get to work creating your window dressings with the fabric you have already chosen!  No job is too small – even the smallest window can be transformed by the right window dressing…and made to look bigger!  All our curtains and blinds are hand sewn and we use high quality linings and interlinings so that they are made to last.

I think any style of fabric can work in a home – from new build to period property, depending on your style and preference.  When it comes to hardware and installation there are different considerations depending on your type of property which I can advise on.

Interior Designers

I am happy to work with interior designers at any stage of the design process.  Whether you have competed the design of the room scheme or whether you want some advice on any aspect of fabric, trimmings, headings or other accessories.

I have worked on both new homes and period properties and can recommend qualified installers.

Are you in need of some inspiration or are you intrigued to know a little more about my style?

If you are in need of some fabric inspiration here are some of my favourites:

Linens – ideal for relaxed roman blinds and sheer, lightweight curtains:

The Cloth Shop London

Colour & Pattern – bold patterns work so well on roman blinds, providing a focal feature for a room but not too overpowering:

Ian Sanderson, Ottoline, Rapture & Wright

Neutral pattern – ideal for layering with other fabrics and colours; a roman blind in one with curtains in another:

Zoe Glencross, Mimi Pickard

Trimmings – if you want to make your window dressings truly unique, pair your fabric which some beautiful trimmings to finish off the edges:

James Hare

Double width fabrics – double width fabrics can be very economical when it comes to a large pair of curtains, they are cheaper by the meter and are quicker to make:

 Tinsmiths
